★Blue Note Records’ Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series is produced by Joe Harley and features all-analogue recordings, mastered from the original tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl and presented in deluxe gatefold packaging. Mastering is by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) and vinyl is manufactured at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI).
★The Waiting Game was the unsung tenor saxophonist Tina Brooks’ final album, recorded in 1961 but not released until 1999. Brooks is one of the most under-appreciated tenor players and composers of the hard bop era, with only one of his four Blue Note sessions (the classic True Blue) released during his lifetime. Brooks is joined here by Johnny Coles on trumpet, Kenny Drew on piano, Wilbur Ware on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums.
Brooks penned five of the six tracks, showcasing his unique compositional talent in addition to his pleading and soulful tenor sound. Highlights include the Side 1 opener “Talkin’ About” and the modal masterpieces “Dhyana” and “David the King.”.

提納．布魯克斯-硬咆薩克斯風大師，出生於北卡羅來納州。暱稱“Tina”，發音為”Teena”，是童年綽號”Teny”的引用字。1944 年隨家人搬至紐約後開始了演奏生涯。第一部正式作品是在 1951 年與鋼琴家Sonny Thompson合作，1955年與電顫琴名家 Lionel Hampton同演，站上第一線爵士演奏家序列。布魯克斯最著名的是他在 1958 年至 1961 年間為爵士名廠Blue Note所合作的一系列錄音作品，他與Kenny Burrell, Freddie Hubbard, Jackie McLean, Freddie Redd, and Jimmy Smith等出眾名家共同打造了不少優異的作品。
