The young Bach of the Toccatas and the Chromatic Fantasy, and the mature Chopin, with the Nocturnes, the Fantasy and the Barcarolle - a singular association, in which the divergences all the more emphasise the meeting points of the two composers' imaginations.

Rather than looking at these pieces from a historical perspective, Bella Schutz invites us to consider them as absolute works, evolving beyond classification, beyond category, so as to appreciate all the more what links them: fantasy and improvisation, encapsulated in a virtuosity that is never gratuitous and in which light and darkness converse ceaselessly.
